DIY table restoration

So my computer table is looking a little worn these days and needs a fresh coat of paint, however I just wanted to share it with you guys because I simply love it. This table was a brown wicker table before, with ugly handles  and a plain glass base. Unfortunately I don't have before images of this restoration  but i'd like to share it with you guys anyway just incase you might be planning to throw out some old furniture. Why not restore it?

It literally took me half an hour outside on a sunny day and less than a day to dry using ordinary white household gloss paint.

Glass painted the glass using a pattern on one of my quilt overs as a tracing ref

Changed the handle for these pretty ceramic ones from B&Q and were about £1.50 each

So you can see it's a little worn in now, but nothing another lick of paint can't handle.

Sketch book

I have to share my amazing little finds today, a little sketch book from Ikea and a huge butterfly poster framed, they are some what reministant of victorian medial drawings. I'm just in love. What do you think? Yay or Nay?

OTTD

This is my first OTTD ever so be gentle, I was rushing out the house and had to time to really take a proper picture so I snapped one in the mirror.

I love clashing colours so I went for an orange Mini so Kelly Hermes to compliment my red shirt. Hijab tied back in black and I rush off to my destination.
As you can't see my lower half I went for a dark blue pair of jeans and a Ted Baker ballerina shoe.

Glitter!

These glitters are called Zink glitter pots on ebay. There is a plethora of glitters on the market, a few even by M.A.C however I was looking for a consumer friendly alternative to the expensive brands and came across these. A grand total of £16 for 10 glitter pots, they are excellent in size and i'm sure would last you a very very long time to come. There colours are amazing and glitter fine making them perfect for makeup application. I had a quick play with them and created 2 looks, one using the black glitter and one using 'moss green.' Judge for your self, they are worth a shot and won't put a hole in your pocket that is too big. With the amount of product you get it's definitely a worth while investment. Plus you don't have to choose the shades I got, there are 32 to choose from and they all look divine!

Excuse the horrible lighting that's making me look orange but these are my looks created using the glitter pots.

TIP: After applying the desired eyeshadow, with a flat clean round brush use a little primer or clear eyeliner gel to apply the glitter on to the lids. This will allow the glitter to stick all day and night without moving and you will have less fall out through out the day.

Ebay has got the goods

High fashion isn't just for the western world. As we endlessly flick those the internet and admire fashion blogs, magazines and runway looks you don't have to feel like it's all so unattainable, or even unwearable. The trick with being a hijabi fashionista is to tip your scarf to your influences and adjust them to your style and preference. Understand the elements in which they used to achieve the look, and adjust it to your style.

Here is one of my favourite looks that is ultimately chic and timeless

TIP: You can go for a leather trouser if you dare be so bold, go for it! However you can do the same with faux leather leggings or coloured jeans if you don't like the texture in this outfit.

TIP:  you don't have to go for blues or greens, you can achieve this look with absolutely any colour palette you choose. The aim is to use different shades of block colours to get the look.

However the beauty of this outfit is achieved not only by the colour palette but the textures in fabric. The leather dominantly gives that hard edge look but the soft wool/fur jacket elegantly compliments them tying the fabrics together and neutralising the hard feel of the pants.

So how do we make this muslimia friendly? Try these for size.

Ebay is simply amazing, the cardigan above is only £5! Brand new, you can't do much better than that. If you can fine a beautiful wool cardigan that would tie in perfectly with the textures, however if you want to keep it simple than go for a normal cotton cardigan.

Go for a cream or white scarf £6 ebay

Break up the palette with a cute shoe, I went for a glittery brogue however heals would compliment this beautifully. The shoes also tie in with the scarf, depending on the tailoring of the items you choose to go for you can dress this look up or dress it down.
shoes £23 ebay

bag £19 ebay

Although all the items here are not from ebay, this is just an extreme example of the wonderful things you can actually find on ebay with a little effort, sometimes not much at all. Try scouring the charity shops or sale wracks for those bargains, you never know what you could find with the right ideas in mind. Have fun with this look, and keep those eyes peeled.
